Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Moong Dal
  • 1 cup rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 potato, diced
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • Salt to taste

Method
 

  1. Rinse the Moong Dal and rice together under running water.
  2. In a pressure cooker, heat ghee and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add onions and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add diced vegetables, turmeric, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
  4. Add the rinsed dal and rice, followed by water. Stir well.
  5. Close the lid and cook for 3 whistles. Let the pressure release naturally.
  6. Serve hot with yogurt or pickle.
